Stress. It’s such a common complaint that it’s rare to find someone who says they are not under stress. The American Psychological Association’s “Stress In America” ™ survey in 2014 looked at the relationship between stress and healthy behaviors (1). It found a clear correlation with stress negatively impacting sleep, exercise and eating habits. As practitioners we strive to advise our patients about healthy lifestyle and nutrition strategies, and yet the underlying cause of stress can unravel even the best laid treatment plans.
We know that we need to help our patients manage stress more effectively, and there are a variety of ways to do this. For a botanical solution, Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera) is at the top of my list.* A plant with thousands of years of traditional use in India, it is now a proven plant ally in modern times.*
