What’s in Red Wine: Resveratrol and Cardiovascular Health

wine-grapesThe science of resveratrol has grown substantially since 1991, when a 60 Minutes segment first made the public announcement of red wine’s impact on health with much fanfare. Red wine as a good-for-you drink quickly became known as one aspect of the French Paradox. Following the broadcast, red wine sales improved dramatically in the United States, and since then, there has been a permanent uptick in consumption.[1] In medical research circles, interest picked up considerably as well.
